HbbTV (1), Google TV, Apple TV, Widgets (application icons), charter of the editors of the DVB… One more and more often speaks, in the audio-visual sector, of the “connected television sets”. A “suitable for connection” television set is a television set allowing a direct connection to the Internet (by Wifi or an Ethernet port) or indirect via U N case connected to the Internet (game consoles…). Internet then constitutes a new source of contents on the television sets.

According to Simavelec (2), in 2013, nearly 80% of the marketed television sets will be “suitable for connection”. With a penetration rate of the Internet high-speed of 75%, it is probable that in France, a substantial share of the television sets will be actually connected in the years which come.
