Descriptive applied to the documentary “After Hitler” (France 2): answer to the plaintiffs

Publication date: Monday, November 28, 2016
Plenary assembly of October 12th, 2016

The CSA was seized about the documentary After Hitler diffused on France 2 on May 8th, 2016 at 20:50, accompanied by descriptive of category II (“ disadvised with less than 10 years ”).

The Council considered that descriptive reserve by the chain France 2 to accompany this program was adapted to the concrete cases and did not constitute a failure of the chain to the obligations envisaged by the recommendation of June 7th, 2005 concerning the descriptive youth and the classification of the programs.

It indeed estimated that the teaching and historical aiming of this documentary, which tends to make known a side little known of the continuations of the Second World War, could justify that difficult images are revealed in order to illustrate this period.

The CSA however assured the plaintiffs of his vigilance as regards respect by the editors of radio and television of their obligations as regards protection of the young public.
