Publication date: Wednesday, May 17, 2017
Plenary assembly of March 1st, 2017

The CSA was seized following the diffusion on C8, on January 9th, 2017, of a sequence of the emission Does not touch at my station! during which the presenter and its chroniclers discussed about a number of the emission Inquires exclusive devoted to Islam in Seychelles. The Council was alerted on the fact that the presenter of the emission “ would have relativized the importance and the gravity of the conversions forced with the Islam which the Christian women in Seychelles undergo ”.

In accordance with article 2-3-2 of the convention of the C8 chain, “ the journalists, presenters, presenters or collaborators of antenna take care to respect an honest presentation of the questions lending to controversy and to ensure the expression from the various points of view ”.

After attentive examination of the sequence, it does not appear that the conversions forced with Islam were relativized in their importance and their gravity by the presenter of the emission or his chroniclers. In addition, during the sequence, other interventions came to greet the choice and the importance of the topic approached in the emission Inquires exclusive.

Under these conditions, the diffusion of this sequence does not constitute a failure of the C8 chain to its obligations as regards respect of the rights and freedoms.
