Plenary assembly of May 18th, 2016

The CSA intervened with chain NT1 about the emission Bachelor, diffused since February 29th, 2016.

It, in particular, examined the sequence enclosing each episode during which the “ bachelor ” selects the candidates that it wishes to see continuing the emission in their giving a pink. With the glance as of new provisions relating to the women's rights of article 3-1 of the law of September 30th, 1986, who gives for mission the CSA of fighting against the stereotypes, the prejudices sexists, the degrading images and the violences made to the women, it estimated that this sequence was likely to attack the image of the women. Indeed, it exacerbates the constraint of a group of young women to the good pleasure of a man, putting thus ahead a will of dependence devaluing by their share.

He thus drew the attention of the persons in charge of the chain to the necessary respect of the provisions of article 3-1 of the law of September 30th, 1986 in the programs known as of “reality TV” – which can be favourable with the behaviour of bearing matter reached with the respect of the women's rights – in particular by making the choice not to diffuse certain remarks or behaviors since they are likely to enter in infringment with the obligations of the chain.

The CSA also specified with the chain that, in a more general way, it worried highly about the tonality and the competences of this emission which result in supporting the diffusion of sequences, dialogues, images and postures likely to give a representation of the women marked by devaluing stereotypes, present throughout this program.
